We’ve all felt it – that subtle (or not-so-subtle) push to fit into a box.

There are so many areas of life where women are told to play small:

  • The “right” age
  • The “perfect” body
  • The “ideal” mom, partner, friend…
  • The “best” employee

I could go on, and I know you could, too.

Unboxing Women is here. This blog series is an invitation to step into a better version of yourself. It’s an opportunity for you to break out of the boxes that you, and  others, have put you into.

What If We Were Never Meant To Fit In Those Boxes?

In my new Unboxing Women blog series, we’ll explore how to live fully, beyond all the labels. You may already be doing that. If you are, then great!

I still encourage you to have a look at how you have filled in your new box, which might now be old, and what you can do to level up in one area of your life. Or maybe you already know your next step toward self-growth, but have been holding back for some reason?

What Is Unboxing Women All About?

Over the next few blog posts,, I’ll be sharing reflections on age, ambition, motherhood, appearance, health, identity, and more.

And if you happen to be a man, or do not identify as a woman, or whatever the case is, you can use these strategies and techniques for your own life as well. Or, maybe you can support a woman in your life as she unboxes.

You’ll hear stories – some mine, some we all carry – and ideas that I hope will help you feel seen, supported and empowered.

We begin today. Thank you for being here.

How to Unbox Yourself

To prepare, take some time to think about the box, or boxes you have been put in. It will help to write them down. I recommend sitting down with a journal and just writing – no judgement. Here are a few to start with:

  • The “good girl” box
  • The “strong one”
  • The “mom who never complains”
  • The “too ambitious”
  • The “too emotional”
  • The “resilient one who doesn’t need help”

What else?

Write down as many as come to mind – no need to edit or overthink.

Or, you may also use this journal prompt: “If I didn’t feel confined by expectations – of age, appearance, or role – how would I show up differently in my life?”

You are the only one who will see this. If you want to do this with a trusted friend, or group of soul sisters, that is okay too. It’s all up to you.

Thank you for being here.
